Thymosin Alpha-1
10 mg · Lyophilized powder · SKU WV-TA1-10
A 28-residue immune peptide cleaved from prothymosin alpha, acting largely through Toll-like receptors.
Compound information
Thymosin alpha 1 is a 28-amino-acid peptide released from prothymosin alpha, originally isolated from thymus tissue. It signals mainly through Toll-like receptors on dendritic cells and monocytes, which places it upstream of T-cell maturation rather than acting on T-cells directly — the distinction that most of the mechanistic literature is concerned with.
Research context
- Toll-like receptor signalling in dendritic cells
- T-cell maturation and differentiation
- Cytokine production and immune balance
- Innate immune response in challenge models
Reconstitution & handling
Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water introduced slowly against the vial wall — do not inject directly onto the lyophilized cake and do not shake.
- Store lyophilized at −20 °C, protected from light.
- Store reconstituted solution at 2–8 °C and use within the study window.
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
- Handle under standard laboratory practice with appropriate PPE.
