KPV
10 mg · Lyophilized powder · SKU WV-KPV-10
Three amino acids — Lys-Pro-Val — clipped from the tail of alpha-MSH. It carries the anti-inflammatory activity without the pigmentation activity.
Compound information
KPV is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. The parent hormone does two things: it drives pigmentation through MC1R, and it damps inflammation. This fragment retains the second without the first, which makes it a way to study the anti-inflammatory arm in isolation. Its small size also lets it enter cells directly rather than signalling only from the surface.
Research context
- NF-kB signalling and pro-inflammatory cytokine output
- Intestinal epithelial inflammation models
- Mast cell activation studies
- Intracellular transport of short peptides
Reconstitution & handling
Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water introduced slowly against the vial wall — do not inject directly onto the lyophilized cake and do not shake.
- Store lyophilized at −20 °C, protected from light.
- Store reconstituted solution at 2–8 °C and use within the study window.
- Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
- Handle under standard laboratory practice with appropriate PPE.
